Empties - December 2017
Hey everyone,
Happy New Year!! I really hope everyone had a fantastic festive holiday and feels fully re-charged and ready to face the new year ahead. I am currently sitting in my pj's writing this, having spent last night with friends so today is all about tea, biscuits and films (Charlie & The Chocolate Factory to be precise).
I really want to start 2018 as I mean to go on so I am putting out my first blog post of the year on the first day of a brand new month and year in the hope it will mean I will be much better organised! I thought the best post to kick off the new year would be an "empties" post so below are all the things I have used up in the month of December. I love that feeling of finishing products and especially at the end of the year when inevitably thoughts turn to de-cluttering and tidying up.
Haircare
Percy & Reed Reassuringly Firm Session Hold Hairspray - £12.00
It would seem that no post of mine would be complete without some Percy & Reed haircare products somewhere! But that is because I genuinely love them. You might think £12.00 sounds quite pricey for a can of hairspray but this has lasted me four months so I think that's pretty good value. I use it every day too so a little really does go a long way. I already have another can of this ready and waiting to go (plus a mini that was in my Marks & Spencer advent calendar). It does a great job of keeping my hair out of my face but never leaves my hair feeling stiff or sticky and it smells amazing too.
Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil-Oil - (mini version - part of a gift set containing 4 products)
I really like this oil and was lucky enough to be sent a full-size version of this from Percy & Reed so I am using it on repeat. I will link my previous post here for a more in-depth description of this but I love how it leaves my hair feeling soft and silky.
Percy & Reed Wonder Balm - £18.00
One of the very first Percy & Reed products I ever bought this has lasted me four months too. I can't imagine not using this cream before blow drying as it leaves my hair in such good condition. This first featured in my August Favourites post which I will link here. There is no way I would be without this so already have another one waiting to be used.
Lee Stafford Hair Growth Scalp Scrub - £8.99
Before I discovered Percy & Reed my favourite haircare brand was Lee Stafford and I still love his products just as much. This tube has lasted me since May and is a really great product for making your hair feel super clean. I use it before shampoo around my hairline and then apply my shampoo as normal. I haven't repurchased this yet as I am currently trying out different things on my hair but that's not to say I won't in the future. I wrote a blog post on this last year which I will link here.
Bodycare
E45 Intensive Recovery Body Lotion - £3.85 (normal price £5.75)
If you have read my blog for a while you'll know I suffer with very dry skin on my legs. This E45 Intensive Recovery cream has been a life saver. It's a giant 400ml bottle and costs around £4 in Wilkinsons and last ages too. I use this mainly on my legs as it's unperfumed but when I'm not being lazy I also use it on my body too. It's a really light cream (I thought the name may mean it would be quite thick) and dries almost instantly so you're not left with a sticky feeling when you get dressed. I have repurchased this and am pleased I discovered it.
Imperial Leather Shower Gels - £1.00 each
These are a total bargain and smell absolutely amazing. My two favourites are the Cherry Bakewell and the Marshmallow flavour. They are very moisturising and lather really well and leave my skin with a subtle lingering scent. For £1.00 you really can't go wrong with these. They also do bubble baths in the same scent which are just as gorgeous.
Skincare
All of the products I am about to mention have come from my Love Me Beauty subscription which has been a great way to try out different things. They are mini or sample sizes but have enough product in them to be able to form a good opinion.
Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser - (full size costs £12.00)
I first used this cleanser about 16 years ago and I loved it. You pump the foam onto your hands and gently mix it with water to activate the foam. Like I said, I loved this way back in the day but I have to say it left my skin feeling a little dry after I'd used it this time round. I'm not sure if this is because the formula may have changed or my skin has changed. I won't repurchase this but I really enjoyed discovering it again.
Caudalie 3 in 1 Moisturiser - (full size costs £32.00)
A small sample size, this lotion lasted a good couple of weeks. I wasn't a fan of the smell of this (it has a very strong floral type scent) but I really liked the moisturiser. It sank in nicely and didn't leave my skin feeling greasy. All in all this is a pleasant moisturiser but as I am currently trying out lots of skincare I haven't repurchased this.
Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water with rose petals - (full size costs £14.00)
I really, really love this micellar water and reordered this through my subscription because I liked it so much. It has a nice rose scent and has such a nourishing and moisturising feel to my skin when I take my make up off. I also noticed it doesn't feel cold when you apply it which I do notice on most micellar waters. I would love to purchase the full size of this as I absolutely love it.
Nuxe Reve de Miel Face Cleansing and Make Up Removing Gel (full size costs £14.50)
Another Nuxe product, this is a gel facial wash that removes make up. Like the Caudalie cleanser I found this to leave my skin feeling a little tight which I don't like and I also didn't like the smell. It has a honey scent (hence the name) which I found quite strong and overpowering. Overall it was an alright product but I wouldn't buy the full size version.
Nip & Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads - (full size costs £12.95)
I had wanted to try these pads out for ages so was pleased to see them available via my subscription. They are designed to be used after cleansing but should only be used in the evening due to the exfoliating nature of them. They left my skin looking and feeling really fresh and I would definitely like to purchase the full size version of these as an extra evening skincare step.
So that is all for my December empties. I have really liked using up all of these products and I feel ready to start a nice new skincare routine for the start of the year.
Have you used any of the products I have mentioned above? Leave me a comment if you have and what you thought of them.
