Love Me Beauty Review - July & August 2017

Hey everyone,

It's monthly subscription box review time! If you've followed my blogs for a while you will know that my love affair with My Little Box came to a sad end in July.  I just wasn't happy with the products I was receiving and after a year, I had felt that it was getting very repetitive so I cancelled and began looking at the different options out there.

Subscription boxes have really taken off in the last few years and now you can pretty much find one for most things, which is really exciting, but it also makes it difficult to narrow down.  I knew I didn't want to try Glossybox or Birchbox as I was never inspired by their social media posts but it was only when a good Insta-friend of mine (@highstreet_beauty I thank you very much) mentioned Love Me Beauty that I took a look into it and was pleasantly surprised.

The concept behind it is very different to the My Little Box.  That is a subscription where the contents are a complete surprise each month, whereas with this you get to choose what you want to be included.

The sign up choices are still there - 1 month, 6 months or a year and you can also choose to Gift A Friend with a one-off box.  I will put a link here to their website.  It's worth noting that the 1 month option isn't just one box but a rolling subscription which renews automatically but you can cancel at any time.  I chose the 6 months subscription and pay £8.00 (+£3.95 postage) a month which is cheaper than my previous subscription.

For that £8.00 you get 60 credits into your account on the first of every month.  These act almost like money and all the products featured have a "credit value" and you can choose whatever you like for your 60 credits.  There's also an option to add on extra credits and 20 extra credits will cost you £5.  I must admit I was very tempted to do this for my August bag but I held off as I thought it would be a slippery slope for a shopaholic like me.  I will also point out that the products are not full size but sample or mini sizes.  Personally this doesn't bother me as I think it's a great way to try out brands I wouldn't normally buy as they were too expensive or that I hadn't heard of and with cosmetics, I've never finished a lip gloss or lipstick in my life so a smaller size is perfect with me.  It's worth just checking the sizes on the description of the product so you won't be disappointed.
July 2017
The products came in a lovely little bag and for July I chose:-

Caudalie Energising and Smoothing Eye Cream
Caudalie was the very first "high-end" skincare brand I used and I bought the Instant Foaming Cleanser when I got married and I loved it.  It fell off my radar a good few years back now though so I was really pleased to see this brand included and had never used any of their other products.  This is only a 5ml tube so pretty small but you only need the tiniest amount of this under your eyes so it will last ages.  It has a lovely tingly feel to it but not in an uncomfortable way.  Overall, I'm really pleased I tried this out.
Kat Von D Lip Tattoo - shade "Outlaw"
I've never used anything from the Kat Von D cosmetic range but I picked up a few of her Tattoo Liners when I was in New York for my friends and they raved about them so much I wished I'd picked one up for myself.  This shade is as bright as can be and I can't wait to try it out.
Rodial Dragon's Blood Eye Mask
Another brand I've heard of but never tried, I can't wait to give this a go.  Claiming to reduce under-eye puffiness and hydrate and moisturise the delicate eye area, I was all over this as soon as I saw it.
Nip + Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads
I had heard really good things about these pads and they really don't disappoint.  They are the perfect size for travel and there are enough pads inside to get a good idea of whether I like them. Once inside the pads are soaked with product.  As these are exfoliating it recommends you apply a sunscreen if you are using these twice daily but I choose to just use them at night on a cleansed face.  The scent is really refreshing and zesty and my face is so clear in the morning.  This is something I will definitely purchase as a full size product when I run out.
Eco-Tools Blending Sponges
This was a free purchase with a gift code I had and I have to say, I'm so impressed with these, I've made a note to purchase some more of their brushes.  The larger sponge blended my foundation, concealer and bronzer with ease and I also used the smaller sponge to apply my eyeshadow primer.

August 2017
Caudalie Concentrated Brightening Essence
I feel I want to try every Caudalie product that there is so I picked this up.  It says to apply on to cleansed skin and before your serum.  I have so many skincare products at the moment, I'm not sure what goes where, but I've been using this just before moisturiser and I love how it leaves my skin feeling.  Another product that has made it to the re-purchase list.
Caudalie 3 in 1 Moisturiser
As above! This is a handy 15ml size so bigger than a sample size, but as with the eye cream, a little goes a long way.  I've tried this out for the last few days and it's a great moisturiser.  I'm not sure what the 3 in 1 benefits are (it may have said on the description when I added it to my basket) but I really, really like it..... a lot!
Perricone MD Blue Plasma Cleansing Treatment
I'm going to hold my hands up here and say the only reason I picked this was because of the blue and that's my favourite colour.  I know, totally superficial but actually, on arrival, the bottle is really expensive looking and glass.  This is a good sized product to be able to form a suitable opinion on it.  I was surprised at the consistency of the liquid which is actually thicker than you would think and you only need a tiny amount to wipe over your whole face.  Aiming to exfoliate, cleanse and tone, it's a real "do it all" product and I'm absolutely loving how this leaves my skin feeling.

I'm sorry this has been a long post, but I thought I would combine the two month's into one blog, but I will be back to monthly reviewing next month.  I was really worried I would regret changing my subscription but I'm so glad I did.  Although this is completely different, I am really enjoying getting to choose what products I'd like to try out and being in control of when I choose to order it too.

What are your favourite subscription boxes? I'd love to know.

Love Katherine xxx

  2. This looks a great box! They have some great brands to choose dont they. I subscribed to another box for a while, but like you, became uninspired by the choices I had to choose from each month. I may have a look at this one, thanks for the review x

    1. Thanks so much my lovely:-) I didn't think I'd like the idea of knowing what was coming but I still find myself getting excited waiting for it to be delivered (I've usually forgotten what I ordered by the time it arrives);-) I'm definitely impressed so far xxx
